An upgraded Omni
Airtable’s built-in AI assistant, which builds apps from your own data.
Airtable’s new product lead, Alessandro Savarese, shares the team’s immediate plans and lays out the direction for 2027.

Hello, I’m Alessandro. I recently stepped in to lead product development at Airtable, following the company’s acquisition by Bending Spoons, which closed in early September.
Since then, we’ve spent our time studying the product and speaking with customers, builders, account admins, and partners. These conversations have led us to shape our focus for the rest of 2026 and much of 2027.
Our vision for Airtable is a unified platform where customers can seamlessly bring their teams, data, workflows, and agents together in one place. To do this, we’ll invest in four key areas:
Each month, we’ll release improvements to the everyday features builders and teams depend on. What we focus on will be shaped by our customers’ requests.
02We’ll invest in AI intentionally, strengthening the relationship between your agents and automations so you can work with them side by side on everyday tasks — as with a human colleague.
03As AI becomes more powerful, admins and builders must stay in control of what people and agents can see and do — with enterprise-grade features, settings, and visibility.
Underneath it all, we’ll keep investing in the foundations that make Airtable dependable at any scale.
Bending Spoons is here for the long term. We intend to make Airtable a better product while maintaining the same level of reliability and support our customers can depend on. We’ve embedded some of our best engineers, product managers, and designers into Airtable to carry our plans forward — they’re already working hard and have already started shipping improvements.
For customers, nothing changes in your plan, price, or service — and we don’t have plans to introduce any changes in the coming months.
When we started talking with builders, the requests that came up most weren’t for headline features. They were for unglamorous fixes and underlying improvements that make Airtable better to use every day by smoothing rough edges, adding missing options, and expanding limits.
We decided to address these requests head on and formed a “Speedy Squad” to tackle them quickly. In just four weeks, this small team shipped a wave of improvements.
Going forward, the Speedy Squad will be embedded into our new Core team, led by Akshar Patel, who has used Airtable for ten years and joined the company more than five years ago. Every month, the Core team will dedicate a full week to shaping and shipping your top-requested improvements. Beyond that, they’ll be working on strengthening the product foundations you build on every day. That includes:
We want Airtable to be the best place for people and agents to work together. Agents are ready to take on real work, but work trapped in a black box can’t be trusted, governed, or built upon. Airtable gives people and agents one shared system of record: everyone sees the same data, follows the same rules, and works toward the same goals.
In the coming weeks, we’re rolling out four long-awaited capabilities:
Airtable’s built-in AI assistant, which builds apps from your own data.
Build custom apps on your data.
So the AI tools you already use can work with Airtable.
Trigger agents like Claude from your automations.
The more work AI takes on, the more control your organization needs. In the coming months, we’re introducing highly requested agent permissions for Enterprise accounts to determine exactly what agents can see and do, as well as an audit log, for agents and humans, to see who did what.
Our goal here is simple: an admin should feel confident rolling Airtable out to every team in the company. To achieve this, we’ll be working on key changes, like:
None of this works without you. We’ll share our progress regularly, and we want to hear what’s working and what isn’t. To get in touch, send us your requests via the product feedback form, join the conversation in the community, or reach out to your account team.
Thank you for building with Airtable. We’re just getting started.
